Online TPS Applications: Certain applicants for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) can now file forms I-821 and I-765 online!
USCIS announced that certain TPS applicants can now file Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, online.
- TPS applicants submitting an initial registration application can apply for TPS online if they are eligible citizens of Burma, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, or Yemen or non-nationals who last habitually resided in one of those countries.
- Applicants can submit Form I-821 as a stand-alone form or at the same time as Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization. These applications will be the first forms available for simultaneous online submission.
- To file Form I-821 online, eligible TPS applicants must first visit my.uscis.gov to create a USCIS account online.
- At this time, the option to file Form I-821 online is only available to initial TPS applicants from Burma, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. All other initial TPS applicants and current beneficiaries re-registering under the extension of a TPS designation for another country must continue to file a physical Form I-821. If an initial or re-enrolled applicant who is not eligible files Form I-821 online, risks getting their application rejected and loosing their payment.
- Applicants will be able to obtain a receipt or case number upon completion of their applications rather than waiting multiple weeks to receive one in the mail.
- By offering online filing of Form I-821, USCIS is making the application process more efficient, secure, and convenient for more applicants.
- Applicants who submit a paper Form I-821, or any other USCIS form, can still create an online account to track the status of their form throughout the adjudication process, even if they did not submit the form online.
